Lock Finance

A new office fitout in Auckland, New Zealand completed in 2005. The clients, a rapidly expanding business finance company required a whole floor fit out to accommodate themselves, a subsidiary company, and space for future expansion. The two businesses are separated around the reception and meeting room area, each area being subtly differentiated by variations in the material palate. The floor enjoys expansive views across the city and Auckland Harbour so all efforts were made to keep the office open and allow for the shared views wherever possible. The main office space is arranged around two twelve meter long custom work stations with a long veneered wall to the lift core side containing file storage and printing/stationary requirements, while the otherside contains a series of offices and meeting rooms. These spaces are closed off or opened up to the main space as required with a series of full height timber framed glass doors that run the whole length of the floor. All workstations and desks were custom designed by Pohio Adams Architects for the project in powder-coated steel with linoleum desktops. Chairs are all Eames designs from Herman Miller. The material palate is a combination of American white Oak, Travertine, lacquered panels, powder-coated steel and linen. The clients wanted a functional space that was neither ultra modern in appearance or something that looked like a traditional bank.
