This apartment fit out is housed in a 1920's concrete building in Elizabeth Bay. The design intent was to be sympathetic to the historic nature of the building whilst at the same time to create a modern streamlined interior that would suit the needs of a growing family. The main requirements (often associated with apartment fit outs) were more storage, more light and more sense of space and flow. We aimed to fufill this brief by removing a number of walls, installing long sections of cabinetry, using mirrors to reflect views and light, and installing ‘feature’ cabinetry to focus attention. The material palate is warm with American Walnut floors and cabinetry, off-white lacquer finished cabinetry, terazzo and mirror glass.
