Workshop Vulcan Lane
A basement extension to an existing store built in 1997. The space had very limited ceiling height so all existing lining and structure was removed to expose the original concrete structure. This was patched and painted with sandblasted glass panels added between each beam to create a light box ceiling effect visually lifting the ceiling. A poured levelling compound floor lightens the space, while shop fittings are a combination of black steel and stainless steel. A simple stair interconnects the new basement space with the existing ground floor store. The stair is constructed with precast concrete treads and landing with a simple stainless steel handrail.
